    Ceramic's Class 

    Wednesdays

    9am-11am at the Brentwood Community Center Basement 

    Come down and learn the basics to ceramics and have a relaxing day out.

    Fee will be paid at the door* $2/hr plus the piece you pick (pieces start at $1.50)
    "The World's Most Fascinating Hobby". It consists of applying painting techniques to cast (molded) pieces made from clay that are or will be fired in a kiln. 


    About the Instructor 




    Barbara Young has been a Certified Ceramic Teacher since 1974 and has been teaching classes ever since. Barbara is also a Certified Elementary School Teacher and School Librarian. Barbara's goal is to give a positive creative experience by letting one use his/her imagination, but also teaching the fundamentals of ceramics so all can be proud of their accomplishments. Barbara is primarily a teacher and will teach what and why, rather than here's the paint...just do it.

    Adult Pick-up Pickleball at Swasey Central School

    Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm.


     Adult Pickleball will be offered again in the gym at Swasey Central School. No experiences is necessary! Rec. Dept. will provide paddles if you do not have one. This is a low-impact, easy to learn, and extremely fun sport to play, at any age! Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, and racquet ball. You can play singles, but is mostly played in doubles. Come try it out! No registration fee.

    If there is a school snow day or a school vacation Swasey School will be closed.

    Yoga Movement for Seniors!

     

    Join us at the Brentwood Community Center Tuesday mornings for this FREE class! 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 10:00am, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 9:00am. This gentle movement class helps seniors improve range of motion, flexibility, balance, and will help relieve your aches and pains, all in the comfort of a chair. No experience necessary. This is a great social activity too!

    SIP and SIGN

    Evening

     

    You’ve probably heard of paint and sip parties…

    But we’re going to be offering a SIP and SIGN Evening on  Friday, April 5th at 6:30pm! 

    Enjoy some social time with friends, family or co-workers, while creating your own sign with the help of our wonderful instructor, Patricia Hussey!

    No experience necessary!

    All painting supplies are provided.

    Feel free to bring your favorite sipping beverage (soda, coffee or even wine!)

    Enjoy a fun night out with friends and go home with your

    new seasonal sign to hang!

    TANG SOO DO CLASSES

    Tang Soo Do is a Korean Martial Art comprised of both hard and soft techniques. It emphasizes whole body physical training. It’s beneficial for self-discipline, self-defense and health.

    Classes are available Monday and Friday at the Brentwood Community Center.

     

    Classes are taught by Retired Law Enforcement office Bob Meegan. He is currently a 4th degree Black Belt with the World Tang Soo Do Association and recently recognized by the association  for his 35 years as an instructor.

     

    6:30-8:00pm  

    Enrollment is continual,

    so you may begin at any point.

    Cost:  $60/single/mo.    $100/family/mo. (2 or more)

    Join us on our trip to

    FOXWOODS CASINO

    Monday, April 22nd 

     $35.00 per person

     

    Bus will depart from the Brentwood Community Center

    at 7:30am and return at approximately 7:30pm

     

    Join us for a trip to Foxwoods casino in southeastern Connecticut. Passenger receives a bonus package worth up to $35 at the casino upon arrival.     Drop in and try our class any Tuesday!

    If you try the class and then register for the full session, your first class is free!

     

    Tuesday Evenings 6:30-7:45pm

     

    The class is designed to strengthen and stretch the body, improve balance, flexibility, and focus. Each week you will learn breathing and relaxation techniques to use throughout your daily activities. The breathing gets the body ready to move, the movement prepares the body to relax and the relaxation allows the mind to focus on meditation. The relaxation at the end of class is followed by a head and neck massage. You will feel rejuvenated, strong, and refreshed.  All levels of ability are welcome and prior yoga experience is not necessary.  Each time you come to your mat you are a beginner!
